Begin your French language journey with our Adult Beginner classes. If you have never learned French you should start with Beginner A1.
If you have studied French before, you can take our placement test which will help pinpoint your level of French and find the perfect class for you.
Our classes are small, 3 – 7 students. Classes are held once a week.

French Beginner Course Descriptions
New to French? Or can’t remember the basics from an earlier class or experience? This is THE class for you! Your raw materials – enthusiasm, curiosity, and desire – are perfect ingredients to attain language mastery. By the end of this course, you will have a handle on “être” (to be) and “avoir” (to have), essential verbs, negation, and how to phrase a question and answer it.
- Tuesdays: 7:00 – 9:00pm (July 9th – August 27th, 2019)
Back for more? Build upon the foundation of Beginner 1 with this course; enhancing competency through understanding of the imperative form, adverbs, comparisons and the past tense.
- Mondays: 7:00pm – 9:00pm (July 8th – August 26th)
This final Beginner level peaks with advanced verbal forms, as well as syntactic nuances. Upon completion of Beginner 3, you can (with well-earned pride!) consider yourself an Intermediate Learn French Brooklyn student. Now it’s time for the next evolution in your education!

Graduated from the Sorbonne in Paris in Literature and Art History, Emile has taught at the FIAF in San Francisco and has taught French and done lectures at Stanford University
Literature & teacher of French for all levels.
Souad is an MFA graduate who taught French I, II and III at the University of Florida. She has worked on a thesis that examines the voice of female writers from the Maghreb in the 1980s and their efforts to change the status of women of their respective countries.
